National First Aid Championship

Congratulations to CWO Tom Hunt who was part of the team which won the Air Training Corps (ATC) over 18’s National First Aid Championship. Tom took the prestigious award along with his teammate, Sergeant Avalon Parkes Barton from 299 (Exmouth) Squadron at the ATC’s annual First Aid Championship at RAF Cranwell, Lincolnshire. Tom, representing the Corps’s South West Region as part of the Exmouth team was faced with a variety of scenario based tests with injuries such as a broken collar bone, shock, broken jaw, penetrating stab wound to the chest and lungs and hypothermia! All this was done under the watchful eye of the judges and also the Head of the ATC, regular RAF Officer Air Commodore Barbara Cooper. CWO Hunt will now go forward to represent the ATC in the National Cadet inter-service competition, competing against the Army and Sea Cadets at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst later this month.
