Long Service Presentations

A combined 125 years of service to the youth of Exeter was recognized last night at a presentation at Wyvern Barracks for long serving Adult Staff members from  13 (City of Exeter) Air Training Corps (ATC)

Air Chief Marshall Sir Michael Stear KCB CBE RAF (Retired), former Deputy Commander in Chief of NATO Forces in Central Europe during the Cold War presented "Long service certificates" to four members of staff in his role as President of Devon & Somerset Wing Air Training Corps. Civilian Instructors Peter Scott, Arthur Glover and Alan Greenaway all received 24 year certificates. Arthur's association with the Air Cadets in Devon goes back to the 1940's when he was one of the original members of the ATC before he joined the RAF's Bomber Command as a Wireless Operator/ Air gunner (WOP/AG), flying Wellingtons & Lancaster's on raids in both Europe and the Middle East during the Second World War. Tony Milum, a member of the ATC since 1972, was recognized with the organizations 38 years service award. Mr Richard Bellamy who is already serving on the Squadron as a Civilian Instructor, was also sworn in as the new Squadron Chaplin by Devon and Somerset Wing Chaplin the Rev Ken Brown. Finally Flying Officer Chris Power received his Cadet Forces medal for 12 years uniformed service to the ATC.
